LB Collection Superwash Merino Projects

I ended up making two projects from the Lion Brand Superwash Merino I bought in NYC this winter. I finished the Ropes and Picots Cardigan (pattern by Laura Grutzeck) with plenty of yarn to spare and ended up making the Little Peacock cardigan (pattern by Sarah Hoadley). I have about half a skein left. A beret with a textured pattern perhaps?

Mom visits and Baroque finished

My mom visited me in DC from Minnesota for 6 days. We had a fun time exploring the city together. She knitted a berry cap on Lion Brand Homespun while she was here, but I accidentally handed her my size 3 needles instead of 5 so it was difficult knitting for her. I felt bad about my mistake.

Today I finally finished my Baroque Socks from Knitty.com. I really shouldn't have used black on such intricate cables, but they still turned out nice. They hibernated for a while (what is that called - second sock syndrome?) but now they are done!

Casting On Ropes and Picots

First blog entry! I am starting the Ropes and Picots Cardigan from IK Winter 2008. I bought this yarn at the Lion Brand Yarn Studio in New York City last month.

A brown cardigan is a staple in my wardrobe - I had one for years and it basically fell apart, and I left my replacement on the bus last summer, so I am excited to have a new, hand-knit brown cardi soon.

The yarn is so soft, and it's superwash which makes it extra appealing. I am using Jojoland superwash Melody sock yarn as the inside of the picot. It doesn't look like it will show through t0o much, and I think the contrast of colors adds some interest.
